Episode 2: Kris McDonald, VP of Development, Checkers and Rally’s
B+E is excited to release the second video in our series highlighting women in net lease! Our guests are all experts in their fields, even if they had never heard of net lease when they started out in their careers. Our goal is for this series to help change that.
Our next guest is Kris McDonald, Vice President of Development at Checkers and Rally’s. Kris joined Checkers in October 2017 as the Director of Real Estate, leading a team responsible for new builds across the United States (both corporate and franchisee) and for the asset management of the Corporate portfolio. She has since been promoted in April of 2019 to Senior Director and added the construction and design team. Kris was recently promoted to Vice President of Development, adding the franchise recruitment and sales functions to the team.

She previously lead the real estate, construction, maintenance and pharmacy acquisition teams at Fred’s Pharmacy. Prior to joining Fred’s Pharmacy, she was a regional director at SRS managing the new build and relocation portfolios for Walgreens in 12 states and 2 territories as an outside real estate partner. Previous to that, as Regional Vice President Southeast for JP Morgan Chase, leading a team of real estate and construction professionals who were responsible for the development of over 180 new builds and relocations in the 5.5 years there.
Before that, she worked at Walgreens as an in-house real estate attorney in 2000 and was promoted in 2002 to Senior Real Estate Attorney papering Walgreens real estate transactions. Kris moved to real estate shortly thereafter and was promoted to Senior Real Estate Manager in 2 years time. She managed GA, SC and the 5 boroughs of NYC.
